St. Joseph High School, Pashan, Pune had their very first “Drama Fest” on the 14th of February, 2025, Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event attended by the students, teachers, and the parents of the participants, was a spectacular success!

It was an Inter-House Competition for the Secondary School of the ICSE showcasing 4 Comedic plays in 4 Comedic genres.

The plays were scripted by the Drama Teacher Miss Hemangi; innovative effects, music, sound effects and dances, managed by the Dance Teacher: Miss Aashna; lights and clear sound managed by the Music Teacher: Alexander Fernandes Sir; props by the art teacher: Miss Sonia Bhosle, students and Hall arrangements done by teachers- Miss Rojarani, Miss Mandekar, Miss Manasi Pawar and Miss Swati Jadhav, and Primary section Coordinator Miss Kadam; accurate and swift processing of the results done by Math teachers: Miss Roy, Miss Steffy and the Secondary section Coordinator: Miss Arathi; and a wonderful and colourful ensemble of costumes were coordinated enthusiastically by the participants and their parents.

The panel of Judges included – Sonia Soman – a former student’s parent and founder of Truecopy Credentials, Anupama Job – a teacher of the Primary section and Ira Nandgaonkar an ex-student of the school, now pursuing acting at the Drama School Mumbai. The Principal Sr. Antonnette presented thoughtful gifts to the judges who were elated to have been part of this initiative.

Medals were awarded to Best Actor per house and to a Promising Star across all the plays. The Green House with their ‘Little Miss Sunshine and Mr. Happy Save Miserland’ play won the Kshama Joglekar Rolling Trophy for Best House – Drama and Certificates were given to all the participants.

The participants all resonated that being part of this event from auditioning for selections to receiving accolades for their performance, was an experience that gave them many important Drama skills, life skills and values vital in personality development and community spirit. Many children who went unnoticed throughout the school year, suddenly bloomed through this Fest.

Best Actor – Green House- Little Miss Sunshine and Mr Happy Save Miseryland- Tia Sapra (std. 7)

Promising Star – Rishona Gupte (std. 6)
