Social work is the band-aid on the festering wounds of the society.
The students of Std 8th organized a Bal Mela for the children residing in Sangamner from 24th to 26th February. Sr. Antonette, Ms. D’Souza and Ms. Jadhav accompanied the students.
They started their journey by first visiting the Ashirwad Nursing Home on 25th February. The students were taken to the field and were introduced to various domestic animals. At 9.30 am the al Mela event began with a prayer service. It was followed by an interactive arts and craft session. The children played various games and a dance was also organized for them. The students gave all of the children sweets and gifts for their enthusiastic participation in the evening.
A mass was held in the orphanages church. On 26th morning the students ate breakfast and bid a goodbye to the children and staff. The event was a resounding success.
The message “ the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” was what we learnt from this experience.
